CGHS & Silver Oaks hospital, Mohali directed to make payment of the medical bill and for causing mental agony
Tarsem Singh, Sr. Citizen and resident of Sector 56 Chandigarh is a pensioner & CGHS beneficiary. He has won long drawn court battle for re-imbursement of his medical claim. His claim was for medical treatment of his wife (since deceased) in Silver Oaks Hospital, Mohali (an empanelled hospital) in emergent situation. Earlier, the hospital refused to provide cashless treatment even on production of CGHS card and bill raised was passed by the CGHS after making wrongful deduction of Rs.20,636/-
Aggrieved against he filed complaint against both Silver Oaks Hospital, Mohali and the Addl. Director, Central Government Health Scheme Chandigarh in the Consumer court at Chandigarh vide order dated 8.2.2017 in CC 268 of 2016 directed:
a) Addl. Director, Central Government Health Scheme Chandigarh to refund the amount of Rs.20,636/- ;
b) Silver Oaks Hospital, Mohali to pay Rs.15,000/- for causing mental tension and agony; and
c) Non compliance of the order within stipulated period of 45 days will be subject to 9 % interest from the date of filing of the complaint till realization.
